What is truth?  What is one man's truth may well be another man's lie.  To both their position is "the truth".  While sometimes the truth can be found through facts and logic within the current paradigm, that doesn't always mean that it is always the truth.  People fight and die for "The Truth" when it really doesn't matter.  Is defending your perspective really that important in the big scheme of things?

Liberal vs. Conservative:  I was just thinking.  I imagine that if you were to plot the American population on a chart, with one axis being how liberal or conservative they are and the other axis being the number of people within each level it would be close to a Bell Curve.  With few really radicals on either end and the majority of the people in the middle.  But then if you also plotted the level of activism on that same chart for each category, I'll bet it would be the an upside down Bell Curve.  In other words, the amount of noise people make is inversely proportional to how radical they are and the more radical they are, the fewer of them there are.  So, it is the radicals from both ends of the spectrum that are more politically active, and, therefore, the ones who are running the country.  The silent majority is still out there.  This may be the year they wake up, 'cause things have gotten bad enough they just might get loud.

Somehow it just doesn't seem right that one or two states get to pick who we are going to vote for.  I think its time we held all the primaries and caucuses on the same day.  There are candidates who drop out after not wining in the first couple of states because they can't raise money since they lost just that one state.  Whose to say they couldn't get enough delegates for the nomination if they stayed in.  Those who complain about the big bucks being spent on campaigns should be all for this.

The Iowa Caucuses.  What I don't understand is why they are such a big deal.  Are we, the people, so dumb that we can't make up our own minds?  Do we have to have a race between states to be the first to elect delegates to the National Conventions?  Why does the media think that we in the other states will follow the early states like sheep?  I'm going to make up my own mind and vote for whoever I like best in my state's primary.  Who wins in Iowa, or any other state means nothing to me.  But, unfortunately, I'm probably in the minority.  The media is probably right.  The general public wants to vote for a winner and so they vote for whoever is perceived to be the most popular, thereby increasing their popularity even more.  It is this snowball effect that puts politicians that we don't like into office.  Until the American people wake up and start making decisions on their own, they will continue to get what they are asking for -- inept representatives.

Politics is probably the only job where your qualifications to do the job do not matter.  The only qualification necessary to be a state representative, governor, congressman, senator, or even president is the ability to get elected.  Actual accomplishments and skills do not factor in when it comes to the American sheep voters.
